Favorite placeThe first contact a lot of webmasters have with SEO is the technical stuff on the site. Using the correct markup with H1 and putting the keyword in the title-tag etc. This has been very important as long as SEO has been around but that might be changing.

What we need to understand is the will of the search engines. If you ask Google what kind of page they want to show in the top of the search result they’re not going to answer The page with the best H1 or the page with the most text. What they want to show is the page that best answers the question asked.

It’s natural that they are moving away from all these factors that have been so important as a perfect title does’t mean that the page answers the question best. We already see these tendencies in the results right now even though I can’t in this case say that I’m basing it on data but rather experience.

I’m certain though that in the future, we will see a lot more of this, technical on site optimization becoming less and less important until it’s forgotten completely. What do you think?
